Swedish Massage -
techniques specifically designed to
relax muscles by applying pressure to
them against deeper muscles and bones,
and rubbing in the same direction as the
flow of blood returning to the heart.
The main purpose of Swedish massage is
to increase the oxygen flow in the blood
and release toxins from the muscles.
Swedish massage shortens recovery time
from muscular strain by flushing the
tissues of lactic acid, uric acid, and
other metabolic wastes. It increases
circulation without increasing heart
load. It stretches the ligaments and
tendons keeping them supple and pliable.
It reduces stress, both emotional and
physical, and is suggested in a regular
program for stress management.
Deep Tissue Massage - focuses on
realigning deeper layers of muscles and
connective tissue. It is especially
helpful for chronically tense and
contracted areas such as stiff necks,
low back tightness, and sore shoulders.
Some of the same strokes are used as
classic Swedish Massage, but the
movement is slower and the pressure is
deeper and concentrated on areas of
tension and pain.
Neuromuscular Therapy -
neuromuscular therapy (NMT) has emerged
as a significant methodology for
assessing, treating and preventing soft
tissue injuries and chronic pain. NMT, a
series of manual treatment protocols
based on the practitioner’s skill,
anatomy knowledge and precise palpatory
application, has found its home, not
only in the treatment rooms of massage
therapy, but also in occupational and
physical therapy, nursing, chiropractic,
osteopathic and physical medicine
clinics worldwide, as well as in many
forward-looking Primary Care practices.

Performance Enhancement Sports
Massage - a form of massage that is
typically used before, during, and after
athletic events. The purpose of the
massage is to prepare the athlete for
peak performance, to drain away fatigue,
to relieve swelling, to reduce muscle
tension, to promote flexibility and to
prevent injuries.
Shiatsu - also known as
acupressure is a finger pressure massage
technique founded on the Chinese
meridian system. The therapist applies
pressure with his thumbs, finger, and
palms to specific areas of the client's
body that have been determined during an
assessment period prior to the massage
session. Massage techniques like
tapping, squeezing, rubbing, and applied
pressure are applied along the meridians
to unblock energy blockages and
reintroduce the optimal flow of ki.
Reflexology - the practice of
stimulating nerves on the feet, hands
and ears, to encourage a beneficial
effect on some other parts of the body,
or to try to improve general health.
Practitioners believe that areas on the
foot correspond to areas of the body,
and that reflexology assists the
self-healing process. A therapist will
apply pressure in the form of relaxing
massage to these areas, in order to
stimulate the corresponding area and
thereby remove blockages in the energy
body.
Prenatal Massage - a form of
therapeutic bodywork that is geared to
meet the unique needs of the pregnant
woman. Promoting better function of
muscles and joints, prenatal massage
also improves circulation and overall
body tone. Additionally, prenatal
massage decreases mental and physical
fatigue as well.
Perinatal Massage – (postnatal)
massage provides a wonderful sense of
continuing comfort for the new mother.
Its aims are to give nurturing and
emotional support, alleviate the muscle
strain of labor & childbirth, promote
pelvic floor healing and rebalance the
pelvis & spine, restore & normalize
abdominal structures & facilitate
healing after Caesarian section and
prevent & reduce back & neck pain caused
by new-born care
Craniosacral - a gentle, hands-on
method of evaluating and enhancing the
functioning of a physiological body
system called the craniosacral system -
comprised of the membranes and
cerebrospinal fluid that surround and
protect the brain and spinal cord. Using
a soft touch, practitioners release
restrictions in the craniosacral system
to improve the functioning of the
central nervous system. For more

Somatoemotional Release - a
therapeutic process that uses and
expands on the principles of
Craniosacral Therapy to help rid the
mind and body of the residual effects of
trauma. For more information -

Integrative Neurosomatic Therapy
- a structurally integrative approach to
pain relief. The method is based on
finding improper structural and
biomechanical patterns in the patient's
body. Once these improper patterns are
documented specialized deep tissue
techniques are used to correct them. For
